Welcome to April! As I've been thinking about the energy of this month, the sinking of the Titanic keeps coming to mind. No worries, it's not what you think! It could be the anniversary (April 15th) is right around the corner, or perhaps I've been watching too many reruns of Downton Abbey! But whatever the reason, here's what I'm thinking.
We enter April with the Sun, Venus, Mars and Uranus all in intrepid Aries. On the 13th, Mercury will join them. This is the energy of spring – vivacious, innocent, aspiring and daring. We are ready to shake off the heaviness of winter and the nebulousness of Pisces in favor of movement and action. But part of Aries confidence and bravado is inexperience – we do the impossible because nobody told us it couldn't be done…or perhaps they did, and the spirit of the warrior proves them wrong.
April is rich with the audacity of Aries, but there are a few other acts taking place, maybe not in the center ring, but important in the overall picture. This includes cautious Saturn in reflective Scorpio and Pluto in foundation-building Capricorn. These two planets are advising against the 'full steam ahead' approach which is certainly Aries' style if left unchecked.
Maybe this is why the Titanic is resurfacing (bad pun I know!) There were multiple reasons leading to the perfect storm that sank the unsinkable ship. (Did you know one of the more recent theories says the Moon played an important part? Another story, another time.) But certainly among the top contenders was the captain's decision to move 'full steam ahead' without accurately assessing or appreciating the costs. This month we are fueled up and ready to move ahead, but multiple factors – especially toward the end of the month – will remind us to count the costs. So why not start now? It's possible to follow the voice of inspiration AND heed the sage advice of experience. Don't let the uneven, stop-and-go energy this month keep you from moving forward.
Oh and by the way, we have a pretty good week ahead of us starting off with a sweet and uplifting connection between the Sun and Jupiter. There's a bit of drama midweek with the Moon in Aquarius. But come Friday and Saturday we're pretty much assured some sweetness and even saucy sexiness as cosmic soul mates Venus and Mars merge in fiery Aries. It's fireworks – the good kind!
Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.

The week and indeed the month is off to a very bright start with an early morning pact between the Sun in energetic Aries and Jupiter – the planet of potential – collecting information and making connections in social Gemini. Jupiter represents how we make our own luck – how we expand our potential. This sweet alliance is indicative of the mood of the month – expansive, evolving, and gutsy. The Moon in Sagittarius is laid-back and philosophical. Take time today to consider some new ideas or ventures that can expand your horizons. There will be plenty of time to pick the ideas apart; today allow your mind and heart to move along the continuum of possibility.

TUESDAY APRIL 2 MOON IN CAPRICORN
With the Moon's move to Capricorn last night, the mood is pragmatic and matter-of-fact today. However, moods can be variable as the Moon connects with five different planets like the belle of the ball accommodating changing partners and variations in music. In early morning a favorable connection to transcendent Neptune unites dreams with sensible strategies. In the afternoon a square with volatile Uranus spins us in unpredictable directions but could provide an unexpected insight. Later, an alliance with Saturn gets us back on track, while in early evening a merger with transformational Pluto increases sensitivity. This forceful pairing tends to make us dive deeply into our emotions making it hard to stay neutral or detached. It's also somewhat compulsive increasing desire, no matter how irrational. If you are trying to stick with that commitment of no sweets, better make sure there is no Ben and Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk in the house.
Late night the practical sensibilities of the Moon in Capricorn crash into the willful aspirations of the Sun in Aries. Meet this challenge by giving some thought to your priorities. This is part of the stop-go energy this month where assessing the costs can help us make clear and smart decisions about which people, projects and activities will get our attention and time.

WEDNESDAY APRIL 3 MOON in CAPRICORN
Moon Void of Course 3:35 am (PDT) – 1:41 am Thursday morning
The only cosmic activity today consists of lunar connections occurring long before daybreak. The Moon is void of course for an extended 22 hours further highlighting the somewhat unconnected and thoughtful mood. Stay on task; take care of what needs to be done. Practice being the observer of your life today. Conscious reflection of each and every task can prove rewarding.
Daily Muse: The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. (Marcel Proust)
THURSDAY APRIL 4
MOON in CAPRICORN / AQUARIUS
Moon enters Aquarius 1:41 am (PDT)
The Moon's entry into Aquarius may be unnoticed by many as it occurs within two hours of midnight on Wednesday; however, this Moon is feeling feisty. On the Aquarian Moon we continually dance between our desire to belong and our desire to rebel against conformity and be an individual. Oftentimes we are unaware of how our attitudes, beliefs and outlooks are shaped and maintained by our response to others. We vary our performance based on a need to be loved or even accepted by others and alternately by our desire to feel we are not under their influence.
Today we may be more acutely aware of our dance along the continuum as the Moon aligns with Aquarius' ruling planet Uranus then squares off with Saturn which can certainly, in this case, bring us face to face with our desire to separate from the crowd. The tendency to divide the world into 'us and them' can be a dangerous one, especially when we're not really sure which side we are on and somehow suspect that at any moment we might just change sides! A little honest reflection may bring a smile as we realize how truly fluid our beliefs and opinions can be. Maybe we are more like 'them' than we thought!
Daily Muse: I have wondered at times what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the US Congress. (Ronald Reagan)
FRIDAY APRIL 5 MOON in AQUARIUS
Moon Void of Course 10:22 am (PDT) – 6:00 am Saturday morning
The Moon in friendly Aquarius provides previews of coming attractions with kind and helpful connections to both Venus and Mars (spoiler alert – these two cosmic soul mates have their own play date tomorrow!) With an equally facilitating connection to the Sun we certainly feel the more accommodating and sociable side of the Aquarian Moon. There is still plenty of opportunity to express Aquarian rebellion, but overall it should be much more good-natured today than yesterday.
Daily Muse: It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not. (André Gide)
SATURDAY APRIL 6 MOON in AQUARIUS / PISCES
Moon enters Pisces 6:00 am (PDT)
The Moon drifts into dreamy Pisces early this morning but this water isn't a match for the super-sexy, even yummy energy of cosmic soul mates Venus and Mars meeting up in fiery Aries. Both may squawk a bit as they slide into an uncomfortable connection with Neptune which could increase the desire to escape or slip into the familiar state of denial. But overall this energy is inspiring and fans the flame of desire. It's flirty and even passionate. But do keep in mind the Pisces Moon while sensitive and psychic can also be a bit, shall we say out of touch? Art, creativity, healing and romance flourishes as we evade the clutches of structured reality for at least a day. Have fun and try to remember we are 'under the influence' of Pisces romanticized dreams and Aries indomitable spirit. What a combo!
Daily Muse: You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching, Love like you'll never be hurt, Sing like there's nobody listening, And live like it's heaven on earth. (William W. Purkey)
It's a quiet and dreamy Sunday perfect for drifting in and out of 'reality' with a Moon wandering somewhat aimlessly in Pisces. Creativity and artistry are fine tuned as the Moon merges almost seamlessly with the planet Mercury. Are we thinking and voicing our hearts or feeling our way through our thoughts and conversations? It might be too hard to tell. This blending of emotional Moon with the messenger planet both in Pisces can result in magical communications indeed. Animal communicator Joan Ranquet teaches that in addition to words, we communicate through pictures and feelings. Even the most skeptical can believe today.
Daily Muse: As I grow to understand life less and less, I learn to live it more and more. (Jules Renard)

One night last week, I happened to be outside just hours before the full moon. I love the full moon and never miss a chance to take it in, but there was heavy cloud cover. Although I didn't expect to see Luna herself, I looked up anyway.
Fast moving clouds covered the sky, but they suddenly parted and I saw a huge eye gazing down at me, watching me as I watched it. I gasped.
Due to icy, alto cirrus clouds, the disc of the moon was surrounded by a brilliant rainbow halo that looked like the iris of an eye. Along with the almond shape of the parted clouds, it looked as if someone were watching me.
As clouds drifted back and forth across the moon at a lower altitude, they changed the eye's expression from one of contemplative observance, to consternation, to worry, to anger and finally pleasure. It was like eyebrows changing the expression of a cartoon character.
A great cloud bank moved in from the west and covered the moon completely. The eye was gone. From the size of the cloud formation, I could tell that it would be a while before the moon reappeared. Suddenly, the moon burst through the clouds, as if playing Peek a Boo!
Surprised, I burst out laughing, the way a child does when playing a game with a parent. (It's a good thing is was late, although my neighbors have certainly seen stranger behavior from me.)
That's when I was struck by the profound nature of what had just happened. In a moment of interaction with nature, I'd been startled and reacted without a shred of intellectual armor or adult self examination. The moon had played Peek a Boo with me and I'd reacted from my heart.
This may seem silly to you, but for me it has deep meaning. It reminds me that we're all children and that Nature is our guardian. It reminds me that the wonder of our surroundings is constant and that we have to remember to interact with Nature, even if it's only to look up every now and then.
Although life can be difficult and complicated, there are parts of it that can be profoundly simple. It helps us to take a few moments every day to reevaluate where we are and what we're doing, to remember that Nature is a part of us, and as much as we forget it, we're part of it as well. We not only coexist with Nature and all its phenomena; we constantly interact. This realization always makes me feel better.
One evening decades ago, after hours of cramming for my final college exam before graduation, I stumbled out of my apartment to get some air. My head, filled with caffeine and historical dogma, felt like a plastic bag stuffed with grapefruit. I walked outside, glanced up and was startled to see a boat, its sail filled with wind, floating in the sky. I stared at the boat, confused but taking in as much detail as I could. As I analyzed what I was seeing, it became clear that it was the crescent moon, descending on the horizon. I'll never forget that moment and what I saw.
My life changed completely after that experience and I now know that it was an omen.
These moments, the ones that surprise and delight us, create shifts in time. They connect us with our ancestors and descendants, as fellow members of the human race. As we watch a brilliant meteor flash across the night, or a finger of lightning pounce upon a tree, or gaze at the glory of a sunset exploding with color, we reaffirm our connection with Nature and in the fact that we stand in awe of its power. Most of all, we wonder at its ability to delight us and remind us of who we are.
We are all children playing Peek a Boo with the moon. What a joyous game it is.

I love Spring! This time of year I always feel motivated to clean out and start fresh. I usually do this with my house and my energy body. Of course I take a look at clutter that has built up throughout the winter months, but I also clear out stagnant energy form my house and take an objective look at relationships and responsibilities that are dragging me down.
I like to smudge my house and fill it with bright light and angelic energy to energize my family and improve our relationships.
This is a powerful practice, and one that is simple to do. My sister Katie and I are teaching a class on 12 Academy on April 5 about space clearing. If you would like to learn how to clear your space Click the Picture:
Have you ever noticed that over time you build up responsibilities and relationships that take energy from you, but don't give you anything back? Lots of us Lightworkers have a tendency to do this. Our desire to help and heal others can become detrimental to ourselves if we don't take regular stock of our lives and clear away situations that drain us.
I am a big fan of mutually beneficial relationships. To be healthy and happy our relationships should provide regular opportunities to give and receive. If we get stuck on one side or the other in a relationship then things get unhealthy. Take a few minutes to review all of your relationships. Place them on a scale, do they balance out? Are you working a job where you give and give and your employer takes and takes?
It may be time for a change. Do you have a friend that listens intently to all of your problems, but never asks for support for themselves? It may be time to shift the scales a bit. Take them to lunch and spend all of your time asking about them and their needs. We tend to fall into habits in relationships, and often it is the habit that needs changing, not the relationship. Look for opportunities to ask for help and support from your loved ones, being aware that you will have an opportunity to reciprocate.
Be honest with yourself about relationships that take and take from you. Sometimes it is the healthiest thing you can do for yourself and the other person to make a clean break. Just as it is unhealthy to give and give and to someone with nothing in return, it is unhealthy and paralyzing for a person to take and take and never use their own gifts to give to someone else. There are times when it is a very positive move for a friendship or romantic relationship to end, in order to break this unhealthy pattern.
This spring take the time to commit to yourself and your own happiness. Spring cleaning is a great way to make room for fresh, new experiences to come into your life!
