This last week of February is off to a powerful start with a Full Moon mid-day on Monday and Venus joining the party at the Piscean water park on Monday evening. The Sun, Mercury, Mars, Chiron and Neptune are all in Pisces – can't you just imagine them all sharing a hot tub together, probably with several bottles of champagne chilling. They may be a compassionate but sloshy greeting party for Venus when she arrives.
The love goddess is at her compassionate and loving best in Pisces with a soft and receiving heart. She is idealistic, romantic, sensitive and artistic. In fact she is a creative genius in Pisces. But keep in mind where she excels in imagination she is somewhat lacking in structure. We may be overwhelmed with ideas, maybe even divinely inspired, but to bring them into form, well, that will take a little order – the kind of discipline provided by the earth signs, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Fortunately for us, we just happen to have a Full Moon in Virgo this week.
But before we move on to the Moon, let's talk about Venus in Pisces and relationships. The good news can also be the bad news. When Venus immerses herself in Neptune's realm of imagination and wonder it's possible to see the best in everyone. Boundaries and obstacles dissolve and we become one. Spiritual and sexy at the same time! Compassion, empathy, and forgiveness – they feel like the norm. However, it's also hard to see clearly underwater when we are under the influence of this seductive force. We may tend to idealize people, situations or new ideas without realizing we are truly only seeing what we want to see. This can be a wonderfully romantic and creative time. As you are being swept off your feet, enjoy the fairy tale, but try to remember there may be more sobering times to follow. If you have a tendency to 'lose' yourself in another person or relationship, make sure you have a friend you can count on as your designated reality meter.
The Full Moon in Virgo, opposing this cadre of planets in Pisces is rich with symbolism including the ancient philosophy of alchemy. In this age-old practice individual components are separated, examined and transformed. The success of the alchemist depends not only on the characteristics of the base ingredients but also on the ability to measure and mix in correct proportions. Transformation is facilitated as the right ingredients are mixed in the correct proportions to achieve a new whole that is far greater than the sum of its original parts. Definitely sounds like a Virgo Pisces process to me!
The Virgo - Pisces continuum is a dance of separation moving to wholeness, breaking into parts and finding unification once again. It's a dance of synergy and service. It's a reminder to reclaim the sacred (Pisces) in each and every piece (Virgo) of the whole. The task of washing the dishes, providing customer service, or driving in the carpool are holy and blessed activities when we appreciate our web of connection.
I have a feeling this Full Moon will be chock full of lessons, but certainly one to keep in mind is the importance of finding the correct proportions and balances in our lives. Consider what areas feel good, what feels like excess and where you feel like you want more. One person transcends with an hour of meditation whereas another thrives on a healthy breakfast and bike ride to the office. The extrovert gets juiced by multiple conversations and interactions; the introvert finds nourishment in being alone with her thoughts. Spiritually we are one, but in this world we believe we live in, one size or pattern does not fit all. This week, dance with the Full Moon and find your own pattern.
Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.

Today is hopping with energy, much of it emotionally driven, as the Moon in practical Virgo opposes the Sun forming a Full Moon shortly after noon Pacific Time. This Full Moon carries intensity and emotional punch reinforced by four planets aligning themselves with the Sun in Pisces. The light of the Full Moon allows us to see more clearly details that might have been hidden or out of focus.
In Virgo, the Moon opens our hearts to examine our lives and make decisions about who and what needs to be released and who and what may need to be forgiven or transformed. Jupiter in Gemini squaring both the Sun and Moon may complicate the day with additional ideas and communications that might be more distraction than valuable information. We'll have to keep our eyes open to discern the difference. Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn in Scorpio come to our rescue with a touch of structure and efficiency. This Full Moon teaches us about finding the right 'mixture' of elements in our lives. When we do, harmony and peace of mind are its gifts.
This evening Venus the goddess of love and values dances into creative Pisces. Venus likes to be in this sign of imagination and grace. Relationships are loving and kind under her influence and creativity can soar to new heights.
Daily Muse: We must like a painter, take time to stand back from our work, to be still and thus see what's what…True repose is standing back to survey the activities that fill our lives. (William McNamara)
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 26 MOON IN VIRGO
Moon Void of Course 10:13 am (PST) – 5:02 am Wednesday morning
Today we may sense a bit of déjà vu in our thinking or conversations as retrograding Mercury backs into Mars again. A conversation started before may continue or get re-hashed. And it may not be settled yet, as Mercury will come back around and meet up with Mars once again when it moves direct in March. The really nice thing about this hookup is the softer and gentler nature as both planets are in compassionate Pisces. Alas there is also a bit of wistfulness here too, all day dreaming and talking and maybe little action. With the Moon in service-oriented Virgo there is still hope for getting a few things accomplished today….although….with a void of course Moon starting in mid-morning we may feel pulled more to the hermit side of Virgo and want to go off on our own, or curl up with a good book.
Daily Muse: Praying is not about asking, it's about listening…It's just opening your eyes to see what was there all along. (Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche)
Today on Simpletales we are going to honor the déjà vu of Mercury's hookup with Mars as 12Listen Advisor Tamara Childs joins me for a discussion of Pisces and chart comparisons. We started the conversation on her show last Friday, but just didn't get nearly deep enough! Please join us at 11am Pacific – 2 Eastern on 12Radio.com.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 27 MOON in VIRGO/LIBRA
Moon enters Libra 5:02 am (PST)
That uncontrollable urge you are feeling…it's your inner muse trying to get out! The inner artist yearns for expression as the Moon enters Libra. All the Pisces energy is feeding our souls a non-stop stream of inspiration and today, we might just have to do something about it! Follow whatever creative outlets you enjoy whether they are more traditional arts – music, dance, painting, drawing, sculpting, writing or acting – or using imagination to transform even the most ordinary of daily tasks. We want to find beauty in our lives today – honor that need to elevate life. If you don't see yourself as creative (I'd suggest you change your mind!) take some time today to appreciate the artistic in your life. Listen to music; attend a performance; visit an art museum; watch an artsy film.
Finding your inner muse is especially important today as the Sun meets up with the asteroid Chiron. The 'wounded healer' points us in the direction of our hidden hurts, perceived deficits and most importantly our healing path. And he can also catch us off guard sometimes. If you have a sudden attack of insecurity, a feeling of not belonging, or just a generalized feeling of being 'off track' in your life, stop and ask your higher self for a gift of clarity. Consider how you would advise a person feeling the same way. Walk the healing journey today with the expectation of receiving a gift of insight or maybe even an 'aha' moment that will help light the way to the future.
Daily Muse: Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does, the better. (Andre Gide)
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 28
MOON in LIBRA
Moon Void of Course 12:37 am (PST) – 9:33 am Friday morning
Do you remember the desire to be creative, to be the artist, and to find the muse? Take that feeling and multiply it by 10. Today we may have the perfect storm…of artistry, romance and creativity, that is! The sweet and conciliatory Libra Moon is shining on a day when Venus (the ruler of Libra) meets up with Neptune – the planet of dreams (and illusions) currently empowered by cruising through its home sign Pisces. Boundaries between people are hardly discernible. Romance and creativity flourish. Wow! It may be enough to just soak it up!
This energy is also super sensitive, psychic and empathic. Keep this in mind and pay attention to the situations you are in and the people you are around. Pisces is often referred to as the 'cosmic sponge'. There is a reason for that. If you are soaking up energy, make sure it's an energy you want.
Daily Muse: The most valuable thing we can do for the psyche, occasionally, is to let it rest, wander, live in the changing light of a room, not try to be or do anything whatever. (May Sarton)
FRIDAY MARCH 1 MOON in LIBRA / SCORPIO
Moon enters Scorpio 9:33 am (PST)
The Moon quietly slips into mysterious Scorpio this morning pulling our energy more inward. There is still plenty of imagination at work today, but the playground will have more discernible fences and our toys more limits. Day dreams can be turned to realities as the Sun in Pisces finds reinforcement in an alliance with Pluto in Capricorn and stamina and structure thanks to a connection with Saturn in Scorpio. This is actually the energy we truly dream of – a mixture of both inspiration and muscle to make it happen. Want to spread your wings and fly? The timing just might be perfect. Whimsy finds purpose. The shadows of any self-doubt instigated by the Sun's hookup with Chiron a few days ago disappear in full sunlight. We feel like are feet are on the path and pointing in the right direction.
Daily Muse: Don't rely on others to show you the way. Carry your own map.(David Baird)
SATURDAY MARCH 2 MOON in SCORPIO
The energy is a touch quiet and maybe a bit understated today, but the Moon in Scorpio is anything but asleep. She's gathering her resources and evaluating her allies. Sturdy lunar connections to both Pluto and Saturn stabilize plans and also lead us toward using our time wisely and efficiently. Lunar trines to both the Sun and Mercury align hearts, minds and actions. The Moon's hookup with the North Node reinforces a sense of making our actions and time count.
Daily Muse: Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things. (Peter Drucker)
SUNDAY MARCH 3 MOON in SCORPIO/SAGITTARIUS
Moon Void of Course 1:19 am (PST) – 1:11 pm
Astrology is much like 'sacred geometry' ascribing energetic patterns to the angles created as the planets move across the sky. Today Mars forms a particularly beneficial angle with Pluto. It's quick and transitory but nevertheless powerful in its ability to spark creative solutions and motivate us toward significant changes in our lives. The Moon too feels like capturing a bit of inspiration as it flies into philosophical Sagittarius. This Moon is fearless in its ability to see opportunities in every situation and the lesson in every event.
Daily Muse: People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily. (Zig Ziglar)

The Show was going to be called "Inside the Mind of Mark Husson" but there was a little too much empty space to call it a show so we opted for "The Power of Choosing YOU". Betsy is brave and you would be too if you tune in live This Monday and NOON pacific on 12Radio.com.

Out of Mo's Mind: A Brief Word Regarding Mercury Retrograde
I was advising a client the other day about her travel plans. She asked me if the Mercury retrograde, taking place on the 23rd of February, would pose a problem for a proposed trip. I immediately looked for a soap box to stand on so I could deliver my speech on the absurdity of such beliefs, but then a glimmer of the recent past came to mind, one so dramatic that I shut my mouth and took another look at her chart. I told her it was possible that Mercury could be a pest, but due to where it falls in her chart, not probable. I then told her to be aware of its influence, just in case.
One of the benefits of age is on the job training. I used to be the first one in line to label the Mercury Retrograde as hooey. I'd regale the listener with astrological theories and make bold comments about how it's only apparent motion and an insidious form of common superstition. All this, even though I owned a car that only had problems with the audio system during a Mercury retrograde. I chalked that up to coincidence.
To be clear, I don't fear the retrograde, nor do I proclaim it have any real influence, but I do take it into account when dealing with certain issues. Anything dealing with electronics, communication, merchandise being bought or sold and travel are all possible points of irritation.
As Mercury rules thievery, it's a good idea to be vigilant in areas of life where we have what others may want. I was plagiarized during a Mercury retrograde and only discovered it during the next such Mercuric episode. I don't try to explain it; I just give it respect and a bit of room.
What changed my mind? Thank you for asking. I had one Mercury Retrograde that seemed intent on getting a little respect out of me, once and for all. If it could go wrong, it did. I was so impacted by the experience that I wrote the following poem.
I Do, I Do, I Do, Believe
I say it now, and do defect,
and yearn for Mercury direct.
O'er the years I've bellowed "NAY!"
"The retrograde works not that way!"
"Yes, perhaps, a glitch or two,"
"But not that bad, not much ado."
Oh tiny planet with impish streaks,
you've made me rue the past few weeks.
Missed deliveries, botched up plans,
phone calls sound like two tin cans.
Loss of signal, temper, mind,
Mercury, you've been unkind!
New desk too big to fit the door.
It worked like clockwork, in the store.
"Whattaya mean not 'til next week?"
"Whattaya mean I'm up a creek?"
Mercury, I've been a jerk,
just log me on so I can work.
I'll sing your praises, energy wizard,
and love you from my scalp to gizzard.
It's possible you do have sway,
direct or not, it seems that way.
When next you turn I will behave,
and check myself into a cave.
Interestingly enough, I haven't had another Mercury retro period as nasty as the one that prompted my ode. Since Mercury rules the mind, I guess it knows that I'm less skeptical and a lot more mindful.
So, my dear friends, don't fear retrogrades. There's nothing to fear. All you have to do is pay attention to details, be ready for glitches and, most importantly, keep your sense of humor. If there's anything Mercury loves, it's a good laugh and it's always better to have it laughing with you than at you.
Have a wonderful week. I wish you all peace and love.

A friend recently remarked about being in a period of darkness because he felt disconnected from God. As we talked further, he discovered the God he felt disconnected from had begun to change faces. So he wasn't recognizing God much lately.
Our evolution requires us to keep moving; we unfurl our energy in the world. We morph and change, just like clouds do. When the cloud begins to "rain" is it no longer a cloud? Its shape has changed into another form, but it is still water, condensed into its next incarnation.
My friend talked about how God used to be a far away figure, someone to talk to at night, a silent consultant for his prayers. Then recently in his life, god changed. And he couldn't "find" him anymore for a while. What happened? In our conversation we discovered that my friend had been doing a lot of changing in recent years, during which time he temporarily found himself isolated. But then God re-emerged in my friend's life in a new way. It is as if he turned in a circle and had different vantage points for where God was in his life. As he evolved, God was no longer a distant figure. My friend, in his rotation, had turned in a new direction and suddenly one day, began to realize God had a new form.
Where is he, I asked. He is my day light, my coffee, my friends, people I see on the street, my dog's wet nose, he replied.
What if the dark nights we experience, where we imagine we are alone, lost, confused or disconnected, are just moments in our "rotation." We are turning in new directions in our lives and discovering a re-connection at every turn. There is a tiny blind spot in the turn, though, where we wonder if we will come face-to-face with the light again. And we will.

Now and Then
This image speaks about beginnings and endings. The woman in this image supports herself in her life. She makes things happen for herself always. Life is too short to waste it on "things I could have done." Make the space between the beginnings and endings a thriving reality The Pink Floyd song lyrics come to mind, ."..And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun...." Here the softly spoken magic spell to grace yourself by filling your time with everything and everyone you love.
My favorite book from college is "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn. I read it for a Sociology 101 class and it changed my way of thinking. The book taught me a very important premise that I did not get from my childhood. There is no one right way to live. Diversity is the key to successful human civilizations just as it is in all ecosystems. This message is only one from the book, but it is the one that continues to stick with me all these years later.
Living in rural Idaho as a child the message was always that everyone needed to live one way in order to be happy and worthy of love and eternal life. This was a hard thing to do and many people lived outside the accepted "right way." These people lived with shame and fear that when they died they would not go to heaven and would not be with their loved ones again. They were shunned in their community and lived on the fringe. When I was young it never dawned on me that maybe they just needed to live a different way to be happy. Now I know that there as many right ways to live as there are people on this planet.
One of the things that I hope to do for all of the people I work with, whether you read this column, listen to me on the radio, or call me on 12 Listen is to instill a sense of divinity in each of you. I believe that the divine resides in all of us, and there is no one right way to be divine, you are divine in this very moment as you read The Power Peek.
Diversity is the key to a healthy life, community, society and world. We need opposing views and differing lifestyles. Diversity stimulates thinking and debate and ultimately inspires innovation. Diversity challenges us to love unconditionally and to choose respect for life over shared beliefs.
Allowing diversity to thrive is a challenge that we must take up. We are all one, but we are not all the same, and that is why we are all divine!
Many of the interests I have in my eclectic world will be represented here. From the weekly Power Peek to the things and people that I love (not all of them, of course). May you find something you like. Mark
