The Week Ahead

April 29 - May 5

At the cosmic dance this week the DJ must be playing Simon and Garfunkle's '59th Street Bridge Song'. You know the one, it goes like this. 'Slow down, you move too fast. You gotta make the morning last. Just kicking down the cobblestones, looking for fun and feeling groovy.' Well I'm not too sure about the 'looking for fun and feeling groovy' part, but I'm betting on the 'slow down' message.

We have some major earth energy this week with the Sun, Mars, South Node, and Venus all in headstrong Taurus, and Pluto and the Moon in organized and pragmatic Capricorn. On Wednesday Mercury the messenger will enter Taurus. And both Mars and Mercury take their turn getting called into the principal's office. (Also known as oppositions to Saturn the disciplinarian!)

As the second sign of the zodiac, Taurus is the perfect complement and antidote to the daring, risk-taking and spontaneous energy of Aries which precedes it. As Aries thrives on challenge, Taurus flourishes as resourceful, industrious, steadfast, persistent and enduring. And lest you think Taurus dependability and patience is boring, think again. This sign is associated with the planet Venus, so the determination is driven by a need for beauty and artistry as well.

But the drive of the earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) can be, (but not necessarily) slow and even subtle. Sometimes productive steps forward are preceded by careful and pre-meditated slow-downs or even standstills. This week we are likely to feel the deliberateness of earth energy – especially with the Moon in Capricorn in the first part of the week and the Saturn oppositions to Mars and Mercury in Taurus mid and late week.

As Mars the planet of action opposes Saturn on Tuesday night we are well advised to consider our next steps carefully. Remember too we are in the second half of the lunar cycle (disseminate, wrap up) and are still very much under the influence of the Lunar Eclipse (completion, culminations, endings). Pease do not hear that we should not move forward. Future success is dependent on strong foundations laid now. If you have a project or situation that has been well thought out and planned, by all means move ahead. However, for many of us, this week will be one of evaluating and planning. We will be considering where we have been, what to let go of, and what to keep for the future.

There might even be a sense of fighting an uphill battle or we might feel like David taking on Goliath. That's to be expected. When faced with a formidable foe or overwhelming circumstances gather your resources and round up your friends and allies. A carefully considered plan and rehearsed strategy might be as effective as the sling shot attack by David. This week accuracy is much more important and effective than an energetic yet scattered approach.

Taurus is associated with acquiring and resource building. Saturn in Scorpio can be lean and mean encouraging us to take only the essentials on our life journey. This week, don't be afraid to slow down and survey the territory. This is a very necessary and worthwhile step to future success.

MONDAY
APRIL 29
MOON IN SAGITTARIUS / CAPRICORN

Moon enters Capricorn 5:21 am (PDT)

As the Moon faithfully takes its place in hard-working Capricorn early this morning, we are reminded of family, duty, and responsibility. Those commitments may be to biological family but also to working colleagues or associates, even animal companions and allies. Anyone we consider to be our team, tribe, or pack is included when we embrace Capricorn energy and take on the role of leader, mentor or even participant in a shared collaboration or goal.

Today we look to the future and are building for permanence. With a number of planets in the earth signs Taurus and Capricorn, we are less interested in speed than in establishing strong foundations that will serve us in the future. We may find we are more critical than usual of others. It might be worthwhile to evaluate the merits of certain relationships and alliances to get clear on both the costs and benefits. Still under the influence of the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse last week, we are inclined to cut our losses now in favor of insuring the attainment of future goals. Favorable lunar connections to Neptune (dreams), Mars (motivation), Saturn (discipline), and the Sun (ego) keep us moving along at an acceptable and productive pace. Late night a lunar square to eccentric Uranus adds a touch of provocative and potentially unsettling energy.

Daily Muse: There is overwhelming evidence that the higher the level of self-esteem, the more likely one will be to treat others with respect, kindness, and generosity. (Nathaniel Branden)

TUESDAY
APRIL 30
MOON IN CAPRICORN

We find the Moon methodically taking care of business in duty-bound Capricorn today. Overnight the Moon made a sobering connection to transformational Pluto. The Moon's alliance with Venus mid-day is both sweet and productive. Skip the fast food lunch in favor of something more substantial or luxurious. This might be a great day to take a potential client or your boss to lunch. Make it somewhere impressive but in alignment with your your budget and your goals. Flattery is useful only if it is genuine and offered in the spirit of integrity. With Mars quickly approaching an opposition to Saturn in penetrating Scorpio, insincerity will be quickly spotted. If your actions are deemed disingenuous or naive your intention to cast yourself in a favorable light might be sabotaged and instead you could be perceived as inexperienced or worse.

Tonight, Mars in Taurus gets the chance to review its strategies as it moves into a perfect opposition to stern Saturn in Scorpio. Mars represents our energy and motivation so substantial slowdowns or even standstills might show up today or tomorrow. This is not the time to push through obstacles, but rather reassess your strategies and resources and 'get all your ducks in a row'. Thoughtful analysis is more effective than blind ambition at this point.

Daily Muse: Though no one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending. (Carl Bard)

Today on Simpletales we'll be exploring the dynamics of Taurus and this week's important aspects. Who better to ask about Taurus than a Taurus? Kelly Whetstone joins me at 11am Pacific – 2 Eastern on 12Radio.com.

WEDNESDAY
MAY 1
MOON in CAPRICORN/AQUARIUS

Moon Void of Course 7:07 am (PDT) – 7:20 am
Mercury enters Taurus 8:37 am (PDT)

The energy today may be quite inconsistent as the Moon moves into forward thinking Aquarius and Mercury the planet of thinking enters the very grounded and prudent sign of Taurus. Our mood may be one of looking ahead while our minds are reigning in with the Taurus soft-spoken, but persistent, 'not so fast y'all'. Mercury in Taurus likes to take it's time – time to consider the possibilities, the ramifications, the possible outcomes. Remember Taurus is symbolized by the bull – on the surface slow and lumbering but can power through any obstacle at a dizzying speed once it makes up its mind. This is not the sign you want to back into a corner! But likewise, don't try to hurry it. It takes whatever time it takes.

While hearts and minds may be pre-occupied with the Aquarius – Taurus disconnect, we may yet feel ourselves moving unerringly toward a fated event or destination on our life path. The Sun which represents ego and sense of personal identity aligns with Pluto in mid-morning. A seed or plan conceived around December 30th of 2012 may resurface or seemingly pop into your mind today or this week. You may want to take a quick look back. Are there goals or intentions that need additional resources, action or nurturing?

Tonight the Moon in detached Aquarius squares off with both Mars in Taurus and Saturn in Scorpio. The key to 'responding' instead of 'reacting' to challenging energies is being able to see things in context and from a broader perspective. The Aquarian propensity for aloofness will come in quite handy tonight. I remember reading once that instead of blood Aquarian Moons have Xerox fluid flowing through their veins. Not quite accurate, but nevertheless insightful. Don't take things so personally!

Daily Muse: If your words are soft and sweet, they won't be as hard to swallow if you have to eat them. (Unknown)

THURSDAY
MAY 2
MOON in AQUARIUS

Moon Void of Course 9:24 pm (PDT) – 11:25 am Friday morning

The Moon in experimental Aquarius squares the Sun in conservative Taurus today pushing the lunar cycle into its fourth and final quarter. The mood is already a bit antsy with the Moon having squared Mars and Saturn last night. It might feel a bit like the wheel of fortune is turning and we're just not quite sure if we are happy about that fact or where it will end up taking us. Jupiter in versatile Gemini is a helpful ally to the Moon suggesting a plenitude of suggestions and options. However, with Mercury in cautious Taurus it's important to avoid information overload and confusion caused by too many extraneous ideas or voices. But likewise, try not to put on the brakes in such a way you ward off a potentially helpful piece of advice or information.

Daily Muse: Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler. (Albert Einstein)

FRIDAY
MAY 3
MOON in AQUARIUS /PISCES

Moon enters Pisces 11:25 am (PDT)

A significant change of moods sweeps in mid-day as the Moon leaves mental Aquarius and drifts into watery and emotional Pisces. Tensions and mental gyrations seem to lose their steam and like the ocean tide moving out we will notice the changes throughout the afternoon. The sensitive and non-linear tone is undeniable this evening as the Moon joins Pisces' ruling planet Neptune and even thinking Mercury dives into the compassionate waters as it connects with Neptune as well. Forget about keeping it logical – thinking and conversations are moving to the rhythm of sensitive and psychic Pisces.

Daily Muse: But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads? (Albert Camus)

SATURDAY
MAY 4
MOON in PISCES

Things should move along swimmingly today (too campy?) with the Moon in dreamy and mystical Pisces making gentle connections to Mars (energy and motivation) Pluto (transformation) and the Sun (ego). Tonight a lunar square to Jupiter could tend to inflate feelings out of proportion so be prepared. Generally the energy is soft and tender. It's worthwhile to connect with intuition in a deep and meaningful way today. Thinking Mercury is heading toward an exact opposition with disciplined Saturn very early Sunday morning and the insights of today may be helpful in discerning the lessons of tomorrow.

Daily Muse: My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can. (Cary Grant)

SUNDAY
MAY 5
MOON in PISCES / ARIES

Moon Void of Course 9:00am (PDT) – 6:03 pm

Mercury moves into an exact opposition with Saturn today and the word is accountability! This combination can be cautious and introspective and truthfully, can feel a bit like we have been called into the principal's office. Of course that is not necessarily a bad thing – maybe we are being recognized for excellence! This energy has the potential for being super-critical of ourselves or others. Try substituting discernment for judgment. Come clean with your thoughts and ideas – you will only be fooling yourself if you don't. This is a fabulous opportunity for getting focused and clear and abandoning false ideas and superfluous attitudes. Remember it's not your job to fix yourself or others. None of us are broken! Although we can all use some guidance now and then. Cultivate kindness, gentleness and a sense of humor as you are evaluating.

We have a powerful ally today as Mars the planet of action teams up with Pluto the transformer. We do have the power to move mountains. Focus your energy where it will do the most good.

The Moon leaves mystical Pisces and jets into fiery Aries this evening. Expect an uplift of energy. Tomorrow really is another kind of day.

Daily Muse: Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment. (Benjamin Franklin)

Mo
Out of Mo's Mind:

Holographic Joy of Life.

My father taught Veterinary Medicine and had a colleague who was allergic to animal hair and fur. This poor man suffered terribly every day of the year. He was constantly sneezing, coughing, itching, watering and carried three handkerchiefs at all times. It was painful to watch.

One day, when I was about ten years old, I asked my dad why, in light of his allergies, this man had chosen the profession he had and why he stuck with it. My father simply replied that the man loved his job. I then asked my dad if all the people he worked with loved their jobs. He replied that he didn't think so.

Dad added that if you're truly lucky, you get to love your job and make a living. He said that doing what you love is such a blessing, that many people suffer through discomfort or difficult circumstances in order to pursue what satisfies them the most.

I thought about this for a while, and then I named a couple of his co-workers and asked him if he thought they didn't love their jobs. I'll never forget the way he looked at me. He smiled and told me that I understood. That was all.

Years later, Dad turned down the chance to be a partner in a multimillion dollar vet practice. He dismissed it without a second thought. He was doing what he loved, teaching.

In high school, I worked in a fast food joint as a burger jockey. My manager hated his job. He was probably adequate at what he did, but the mood was dark and intense. He had no respect for us, nor we for him. Eventually, he left.

Many years later, I ran into him while dining at a casual restaurant. He recognized me and we chatted. He was the manager there, still hated his job and, quite sadly, his life.

Back at my burger joint, after the first manager left, a new one took over. It was a completely different experience. He was one of the best men I've ever met and became a friend and trusted mentor. He loved his job.

He'd been a fry cook in a diner, a cowboy on a Wyoming ranch, had driven big rigs and had finally landed on his boots as the manager of the burger joint where I slung grease. He was patient, competent and had a great sense of humor. More than that, he had a work ethic that was solid gold and a respect for both his job and for all those who did their work well.

He taught me that no job is beneath me. He taught me that there's honor in service to others and that life is meant to be spent with people, doing things you enjoy. His ethics were iron clad, as were my dad's, and I took their lessons to heart. No matter where I've gone in life, or what I've done to make ends meet (and I've had some weird gigs), I've always tried to enjoy the moment and the experience.

Not everyone is lucky enough to do what they love. That's the truth. However, even if you're not in an employment situation that fulfills you, life can be as wonderful as if you have the job of your dreams. The key is to put your heart and focus on those things that you do love, and to let everything else be improved by that energy.

For example, let's say you work in an office and don't like being there. Focus on something that you do like to do. It may be discussing Tarot with a group of people, or studying metaphysics in a local meetup. Maybe your thing is taking a class, throwing pots, cooking or painting. Regardless of what it is, there's something out there that can change the way you feel about your life.

Once you find something that you love, a passion flames within your heart, one that never leaves you.

You may drift from one interest or hobby to another, but the inner joy will always be there. I'll bet each of you has experienced that feeling at least once. Guess what? It's still there. All you have to do is reassert your insistence on living a life filled with interest and excitement and put your energies to something you love to do.

I'm a believer in a holographic model of life. Let me explain what I mean. If you break a holographic image into pieces, you'll see the entire image in every fragment. Likewise, every aspect of who we are is located in every other fragment of our lives, proving that it's fruitless to try to compartmentalize our world.

With this in mind, keep learning, keep experiencing and creating. Find the joy in your world and stubbornly insist on holding onto it. Follow your passions and don't let anyone take them away from you, no matter how hard they try. They don't have that right, or power.

Don't necessarily shun the grumpy. Share the joy you feel with everyone you meet, even those who don't appreciate it. Pass along your holographic love of life and never give up searching for more.

Most importantly, never, never let your dreams go, for they possess the power to give you anything you desire.

Until next week, I wish you peace and love.

The Psychic Update

Moving On. . .

I have been thinking a lot about how to let go of things that have happened in the past and how to release them and move forward. As many of you know my Dad passed away in March. His health took a very serious turn on Christmas Day and from then until he passed away I had many very difficult and painful experiences regarding his illness, Hospice care and death.

There were lots of good days and laughter, but there are a few events that were traumatic and difficult to move on from. For a while I have chosen to focus on the good times and just put up a wall around the painful ones. This does not seem to be working now and I have frequent, unwanted memories that intrude on my day. As a Social Worker I know that these are flashbacks from trauma, and should subside with time. As a Psychic I have been thinking about how to handle them energetically. Sometimes it is a strange dichotomy to be a Psychic and a Social Worker.

There are several things that have worked for me so far, and I want to share them with you. The first is to pull my energetic attachments to the experiences themselves. To do this you visualize an event you no longer want to be attached to and pull the energy cord that attaches you to the event. It is like unplugging an extension cord. Then ask your favorite angel to heal the cord. When it turns white simply pull the cord back into your energy body where it belongs. This helps with flashbacks because you remove the direct connection you have to the event. This way you won't re-experience the event like it is happening all over again.

The second thing I have done is to be a good steward of my thoughts. If I notice my thoughts falling back on old events I intentionally bring myself forward into the present. I think of it like a fast forward button for my brain. This takes practice, sometimes I don't realize where I am headed until I am knee deep in a memory, but the more I practice the easier it gets.

The last thing I have been doing is asking for help. I ask for energy work, I have lunch with friends, and I call on my divine support team. When people ask me how I am doing I am honest with them, clichés and platitudes just don't cut it anymore. I know that I can't get through this alone. Every day is better. Every day I learn a little more about myself and how to walk through this experience with grace. Some days are just tough and I have to allow myself to have a hard day, knowing that tomorrow will be better.

I know that we are stronger together, and I hope that sharing my experience is helpful to you. I feel your love and support on the radio and am pleased to share all that I can with you!

Blessings my friends,
Kristi
